Introducing the Bio Seaweed Gel Star Salon Spotlight, our brand new editorial series dedicated to honouring the incredible salons and artists who make our community shine.

Tell us about yourself! 

Hi!! My name is Erika, I’m 31 and I am located in Winchester Virginia. The salon I work at is called Harmony at 609 and my instagram is @erikamarienails

I became a licensed nail tech in 2016 and have always had a love for nails. My mom was a cosmetologist so she always painted my nails and let me play around with her stash once I was older. Once I got acrylic nails done for the first time for a high school dance I was hooked and knew I wanted a nail career.

How and when did you first discover Bio Seaweed Gel?

I believe it was through a local nail tech that I looked up to that was using Bio Seaweed Gel.

What made you continue using BSG products in your salon?

I thought it was really cool that it was free of some of the chemicals in other gels. That was the first I heard of that so I definitely liked that and then the colors are just so beautiful!

What are your top 3 favourite BSG colours right now?

What nail trends are your clients loving this season?

Cat eye and florals!

A nail trend you wish would come back?

Glitters! I have an insane collection of glitter that no one wants to use these days lol

What is your signature nail style or specialty?

I specialize in hand painted nail art and acrylic nails.

What advice would you give to nail techs starting their careers?

I would say to keep practicing as much as you can and not compare yourself to others. It’s journey where everyday you will get a little better and once it’s been years you’ll be surprised what you’re capable of.

What do you love most about being part of the nail community?

Seeing everyone’s creativity is so fun and inspiring.

What makes you different and why clients come back to choose you?

I provide unique, one of a kind sets with retention of 3+ weeks. I’m also good at matching my clients vibe so if they want to chat the whole time we can do that or if they want a silent appointment I provide an environment they are able to do that in.

Where can clients find you and book an appointment?

I have an online booking link on my instagram and I have QR code business cards that send them to my booking link when I meet clients out & about.

One BSG product you can’t live without?

The no wipe top coat! It’s my favorite & have used it for probably close to 9 years now.
